Growing up skating, the camera was just part of the culture — you skated, you filmed, you figured out how to make it look the way it felt. That instinct for capturing real, unscripted moments never left. It just grew up with me — from shooting action sports for TV networks, to cutting commercials and TV spots in the Bay Area, to eventually art directing campaigns from brief to final frame. My foundation is editing, and I mean that in the deepest sense. A film degree focused in post, years spent cutting everything from 30-second spots to 20-minute documentaries, and a genuine love for the moment when a sequence finally clicks into place. I think about sound design the way most people think about visuals — as something that needs to be built alongside the picture, not added after. That same eye extends into motion and animation, graphic design, and illustration — disciplines I don't just direct, but actually make in. That editorial sensibility is what I bring into the room as an art director. I've led creative on short-form campaigns, broadcast spots, and long-form branded documentary — sometimes all within the same project. I think in sequences, which makes me a better concepter. I know what's possible in post, which makes me a better producer on set. And because I've spent real time in the edit suite, I can collaborate with editors and directors in a language we actually share. The work I'm most proud of has taken me from the Cannes Lions stage to winning the SXSW Jury Award for Best Documentary Short — earned by making films that were genuinely good, not just well-branded. That standard runs through everything I make, whether it's a tight campaign or a long-form film with room to really breathe. When I'm not on set, in the edit suite, or buried in a Figma deck, I'm probably at home with my family or tinkering in the garage. But honestly — the line between work and the rest of life has always been blurry for me. In the best way.
